Since 1948, Wood, Ris &
Hames has been supplying legal expertise in a wide range
of areas and providing clients with superior quality
legal work delivered in a timely and cost-efficient
manner. January 1, 2008, marked the firm's 60th Anniversary.
 The
firm's origin dates to the mid-1920's when Edward L. Wood
began practicing law in Denver. William K. Ris returned
from military duty following World War II, and began sharing
office space with him in the old Equitable Building on
17th Street in Downtown Denver. The firm was formed two
years later on January 1, 1948. Eugene S. Hames, a member
of the Tenth Mountain Division and veteran of World War
II, joined the firm in 1952. Wood, Ris & Hames has
been an active member of the Denver legal community since
1948. From the beginning, the firm's general
practice involved estate planning and administration,
real estate work, defense litigation and related matters.
Over the years, the firm's practice has grown and expanded
to include a broad civil practice from personal injury
litigation, employment and labor related counseling
and litigation to environmental issues. In addition,
the firm represents the State of Colorado and a number
of municipalities in complex litigation, as well as
civil rights cases.
Building and maintaining strong client relationships
has long been a hallmark of the firm. Several clients
Ted Wood represented before the Great Depression continue
to be valued clients of the firm. Each attorney and
staff member of Wood, Ris & Hames understands the
significance of providing professional and cost-efficient
services to each client.
Wood, Ris & Hames is strengthened by a wide variety
of personal and professional backgrounds. Our attorneys
and staff actively participate in local, state and national
bar and professional associations. Additionally, members
of the firm participate in and support a broad range
of civic, cultural, charitable, educational and political
organizations.
